Rob Lopez works on qui tam matters at the firm, representing whistleblowers in cases involving violations of federal and state laws that prohibit the making of false claims for government payments.
In addition to his whistleblower experience, he has practiced in the fields of complex commercial litigation; healthcare and pharmaceuticals litigation, including cases involving the off-label marketing of drugs; consumer class-action litigation; intellectual property litigation; employer-employee litigation; and creditor-debtor litigation, including the defense of complex adversary proceedings in the federal bankruptcy court. In addition, he has prosecuted and defended appeals in the federal and state courts of appeal. He also has advised clients regarding trademark, trade-name, copyright, and internet-communications law.
Prior to joining Hagens Berman, Mr. Lopez was a founding member and shareholder of the Seattle law firm Socius Law Group. Before that, Mr. Lopez was a partner at the Seattle law firm Betts, Patterson & Mines.
Notable Cases:
- Average Wholesale Price Litigation
Represented consumers in a class-action suit against pharmaceutical companies that allegedly inflated drug prices. The case settled for $350 million. - Charles Schwab Securities Litigation
Worked on a team that earned a $235 million settlement for investors who alleged Schwab deceived them about the risk associated with investments that included mortgage debt.
