Getting Started

How do I become a whistleblower?

There are a few things that a potential whistleblower must do, not only to protect themselves, but also to increase their chances of winning in court.

  • First of all, gather up as much information as you can. The more information you have about the fraud, the stronger you can make your case to the government.
  • Your next step should be to retain a lawyer. The government has limited resources, and cannot take every case it is presented with. Instead, it is most likely to take cases that are well-researched and based in a solid legal strategy. An attorney will research and draft a lawsuit that will encourage the government to take on the case.
  • Keep the information to yourself. The only person that a whistleblower should disclose anything to is their lawyer.
  • Work closely with your attorney and keep him or her informed throughout the entire process.
